Background/History

Originating from a small mechanics institution (Liverpool Mechanics' School of Arts) founded in 1823, the institution grew by converging and amalgamating with different colleges and eventually in 1992 became Liverpool John Moores University (LJM), the thriving and vibrant university located at the heart of Liverpool which is now ranked in the top 600 higher education institutions worldwide (THE World University Ranking 2015).

Why Liverpool John Moores University?

LJM has been ranked 74th in the Complete University Guide 2017

It has been voted 5th for Hospitality, Leisure, Recreation and Tourism (The Times Good University Guide 2016) and 11th for General Engineering (Guardian University Guide 2016).

The Pharmacy School is one of the UK’s oldest and is respected for producing high calibre graduates. The course is accredited by the General Pharmaceutical Council and has excellent work placement opportunities with leading local hospitals.

LJM launched the first ever sports science degree and the School of Sport and Exercise Science have established itself as one of the best in the world. Students are taught in an award-winning building with access to state-of-the-art labs. Recently, Sports Science in LJM has been ranked 10th in the UK as according to The Times Good University Guide 2016.
