ISL Language Centre was founded in Ettlingen in 1997 and expanded to Pforzheim in 1999 and Koblenz in 2001. Over the years, ISL gained a high reputation in teaching all languages especially German and English.

Foundation - for entry into 1st year of German university

 

The Foundation courses at the ISL Studienkolleg (Foundation) prepare future university students, who secondary education certificate is not equivalent to the German Abitur (i.e German university entrance requirement), for their studies at a German University. If a student has a higher general secondary education certificate or a similar education background (e.g Polytechnic Diploma), he/she will need to do a Foundation year before being accepted into university. The required German Language entry level for most Foundation year is B2. A student is expected to reach this level within 30 weeks of Language course taken at ISL.

 

At the Foundation college, students not only improve their German skills, but they also learn a range of other subjects which will be necessary for their future university studies. ISL Foundation offers the following courses:

 

- T Course (for mathematical, scientific or technical studies in Germany)

- M Course (for studies in the fields of Medicine, Biology or Pharmacy)

- W Course (for studies in the fields of economic or social sciences)

 

At the end of the ISL Foundation Year, students will sit the University Assessment Exam which is equivalent to the German Abitur. After successfully passing the University Assessment Exam, the student will be allowed to study at a German University.

Direct access to German university

 

If a student has a school leaving certificate which is equivalent to the German Abitur (i.e Germany university entrance requirement such as A-level or IB) OR has spent some time at university in his/her home country (usually 4 semesters) OR indeed has a Bachelor degree, he/she can enter university directly after completing the require German Language level of C1 TestDaf.

 

Students can then start his/her Bachelor or Masters degree. A student can reach this level within 36 weeks of Language course at ISL.
